Devon Lyon

SHREWSBURY – Central One Federal Credit Union will have a new president and chief executive officer.

The Board of Directors has announced that Devon Lyon has been selected to succeed David L’Ecuyer beginning Aug. 22.

“I am honored to be named the CEO of Central One Federal Credit Union as this tremendous organization has a proud history of providing world class service to our members,” Lyon said.

He noted that he has seen the positive impact that credit unions have made in their members’ lives throughout his career.

“In the current economic environment, it is more important than ever for individuals to choose to bank locally with a credit union,” Lyon said. “I look forward to working with the board and the team continuing to help all members of the community we serve by providing a great mixture of products designed to fit their specific needs.”

Lyon is currently the chief operating officer at Direct Federal Credit Union.

He joined Direct Federal Credit Union in 2018. Before that, he served in senior leadership roles in several financial services including as the director of education at the National Association of Federally Insured Credit Unions.

He received his juris doctorate from Albany Law School of Union University and his bachelor’s in political science from Binghamton University.

“The Board of Central One is very excited to have a strategic, results-oriented and personable leader like Devon join the organization,” said Chairperson Anthony Pini. “His enthusiasm will help drive Central One forward into the future, and we are looking forward to Devon stepping into this role.”

The board announced L’Ecuyer’s retirement earlier this year.

L’Ecuyer has served as the credit union’s top executive since 1994. Over his tenure, the credit union’s assets have grown sevenfold to $735 million while membership has more than doubled to over 35,000 members.

“David will be missed by the board and the staff, but the credit union will remain in good hands with Devon at the helm,” Pini said.
